How to Book China tour

We had a wonderful time in Tibet. We have learned a lot about this unique destination because of the wonderful guide Degyi who is so knowledge and always available towards our tours. We stayed at the Shangri-La Hotel Lhasa, and we would never imagine a Tibet travel could be so nice and amazing without the help of Degyi.

Also, thanks a lot to our Tibetan driver Mr.Wongdun for his safe driving and a good sense of service along the way.

We shall return Tibet in the near future!

Itinerary Day By Day:

Day01 Day01 Arrival Beijing, fly to XiningXining,Qinghai Province
Upon your arrival you will connect your domestic flight from Beijing to Xining, the capital city of Qinghai Province. This city is mainly inhabited with Tibetan but also a home of Uigur, Kazak and Hui minorities. Transferred to your hotel in Xining.

Day02 Xining - Xihai (B, L, D)
Biking Tour to Qinghai Lake,ChinaBreakfast at your hotel. You will start the cycling to Xihai which is 80km west of Xining. The biking today is approx.6hrs. Xihai is a small town which is noted for its former "nuclear industry". Have a good night sleep at hotel in Xihai.

Day03 Xihai - 151 Base (B, L, D)Cycling Around Koko Nor Lake,Qinghai Province
Cycling to 151 Base. The first 56km is a gradual paved road from flat to some little ascending. You will see the blue water of Erhai with its source from the Dao Tang River where you can see yaks and cattle grazing here. In summer months of June and July, the wild rapeseed flowers are in bloom, blanketing the landscape with shades of yellow and gold. You take another 20km on the National Highway 109 and get to 151 Base that is by the south end of the Koko Nor Lake (Qinghai Lake).

Day04 151 Base - Heimahe (B, L, D)Cycling Around Koko Nor Lake,Qinghai Province
Today's biking is 70km to cover. The road will lead us away from the traffic onto a quiet track alongside the lake. We will cycle in an area of peaceful tranquility until we reach our overnight stop in Hemahe County. It is a small town located at the intersection of the road to Bird Island and Saltwater Lake at Chaka.

Day05 Heimahe - Bird Island (B, L, D)Cycling Around Koko Nor Lake,Qinghai Province
Cycling to the Bird Island. You could watch the sunrise in the morning if desired. Set off after breakfast. There is a big ascending after the first few km cycling. After this you will come cross a pleasant descending. This part of the road is pretty close to the lake. After a tiring up road, the Bird Island comes into sight. Between April to early July (May is the best time for birding here), around 100,000 migratory birds - Red-Crowned cranes and King Shags migrate from South East Asia to Bird Island to breed, and literally cover the whole island. Tourists can get a close up view of these birds from within the well hidden observatory during the birds' breeding season.

Day06 Bird Island - Gangcha (B, L, D)Cycling Around Koko Nor Lake,Qinghai Province
After breakfast, set off along the west bank of the lake for another 25km, then on the National road again to Quanji, where we will have lunch and also visit the local market to buy fruit. In the afternoon ride to Gangcha, where there is time to relax a bit and take a shower before wandering around this little Tibetan town with its various ethnic groups. After supper take in an amazing sunset over the seemingly-endless lake.

Day07 Gangcha - Xihai (B, L, D)Cycling Around Koko Nor Lake,Qinghai Province
Today's cycling is 86km. On the way pass though several small villages which provides another opportunity to the see the day-to-day activities of the local people. After a picnic lunch, ride through the most beautiful natural grazing grounds outside of Xihai before arrival at a local in the late afternoon for the night

Day08 Xihai - Xining (B, L, D)Kumbum Monaster,Amdo,Qinghai Province
Driven by car back to Xining. You will visit Kumbum Monastery and Grand Mosque in Xining. Sitting approx 27km southeast from Xining, Ta'er Si, also known as Kumbum Monastery in Tibetan, is acknowledged to be one of the six most important monasteries along with the Ganden, Sera and Drepung monasteries in Lhasa, the Tashilhunpo Monastery in Shigatse and the Labrang Monastery in Xiahe. Although not nearly as attractive as Labrang, and rather swamped by local tourists, Ta'er Si is nevertheless a good introduction for outsiders to Tibetan culture. Both as the birthplace of Tsongkhapa, the founder of the Yellow Hat Sect , and as the former home of the current Dalai Lama, the monastery attracts droves of pilgrims from Tibet, Qinghai and Mongolia, who present a startling picture with their rugged features, huge embroidered coats and chunky jewellery. Have a relaxed evening in Xining.
